Our partner school in Barcelona is an award-winning institution, member of IALC (International Association of Language Centers) and accredited by the Instituto Cervantes.
No matter your Spanish level, you can begin a program any Monday of the year. Students can study from 1 week to 1 year and take a variety of course types. Some of the most popular are the 20 and 30-hour intensive courses to increase Spanish knowledge as fast as possible.
Lessons can be held in the mornings or the afternoons, depending on your level and the time of year. You can request a specific schedule and the school will do its best to accommodate.
Classes are taught 100% in Spanish and the teachers use the communicative method, meaning you learn grammar and rules by speaking and practicing rather than direct memorization.
The school also offers private lessons, specialized classes like business Spanish and medical Spanish, and test prespration lessons. Those who will be working or have other committments during the day can also take part-time night classes at the school. Just get in touch for more details about alternative course options.
Every week there are 4 free activities for students to join that include tours, site visits, academic workshops and more. They are designed to practice Spanish outside the classroom, learn more about Spanish culture and socialize with other students.
Your first day at school:
On your first day, you should arrive at 8am to sit for the Spanish level test. This is to place you in the group of the correct level. Students can also take this online before arrival and the school will send instructions to do so.
There is then a new student orientation at 9am and students will enter class with everyone else at 9:30am.
The school is near many amazing restaurants for lunch post-class and many sites to explore with your newly acquainted classmates. We provide lots of suggestions for things to do beside the free school activities.
The school has an amazing activities program with 4 free activities each week. These include walking tours of different areas of the city, museum visits, cooking classes, bar nights, dance classes and more.
The school also has paid activities like additional flamenco or cooking classes and specialized tours and trips.
And once per month we organize a weekend trip to a nearby site. These are usually day or overnight trips and have an extra cost.
The school offers a variety of housing options to fit your needs. For a more immersive experience, host families are ideal, while a shared apartment or a residence are better for more independence.
Accommodation is from the Sunday prior to the course start date until the Saturday after the end of the course (you can book extra-nights).
Living with a host family is the best way to learn Spanish and we recommend it to all of our students. Students will have a private bathroom and share common spaces with their family. Breakfast and dinner are included and meals are the perfect time to chat and practice Spanish. Homes are located at a maximum of 35 minutes from the school and all have been visited and approved by school staff. Two students traveling together can choose a double room.
Live with other international students in a shared apartment. You will have a private bedroom and share common spaces, including bathroom and ktichen. Apartments are up to 35 minutes from the school but most are within walking distance. This is a great option for students from 18 to 30 years old. Students traveling together can book a double room.
The Aleu Student Residence is one of four options the school offers. This residence is brand-new and has over 150 rooms. Each is a private room with private bathroom and kitchennette. The residence also has a large cafeteria, gym, movie room and study rooms for more comfort. The residence requires students to book half board as there are no cooking facilities apart from the small kitchennette.
