The school is located in the heart of Florence and nestled inside an old palace with all the amenities and technology of a modern setting, with expert teachers who will lead you with passion and enthusiasm to the discovery of the city and its nearby surroundings. With 10 classrooms, it’s a school that offers personalized attention to each student. Classes are small with a maximum of 8 students in a group.
Our Italian school is located in the heart of Florence’s historic centre, very close to Ponte Vecchio and 5 minute walk from Duomo and Palazzo Vecchio.
No matter your Italian level, you can begin a program any Monday of the year. For absolute beginners, lessons start every other second Monday.
Students can study from 1 week to 1 year and take a variety of course types. Some of the most popular are the 20 and 20 + 5 hours intensive courses to increase Italian knowledge as fast as possible.
Lessons are usually held in the mornings.
Classes are taught 100% in Italian and the teachers use the communicative method, meaning you learn grammar and rules by speaking and practicing rather than direct memorization. Italian lessons combine an ideal mix of grammar and communication, the content is tailored to the student’s need, in a relaxing, pleasant and interactive atmosphere.
The school also offers private lessons, mixed classes like Italian cuisine, Italian language through art history, Italian language for business, Italian language through food and wine experience, and test preparation lessons (CILS Certification). Every week, the school organize a program of social activities during afternoons, evenings or weekends. They are designed to practice Italian outside of the classroom, learn more about Italian culture and socialize with other students.
Some activities are free, others offered at a reasonable price and all are guided by a school’s teacher.
Before your arrival:
Before your arrival in Florence, you will have taken an online test to evaluate your starting level. This is to place you in the group of the correct level.
Your first day at school:
The first day, at 9am, you will have a meeting with a member of the school’s staff who will be able to answer all your questions about the school and its methods. Also, you will receive all the necessary materials for your studies. Students will enter class with everyone else at 9:30am.
The school is near many restaurants for lunch post-class and many sites to explore with your newly acquainted classmates. We provide lots of suggestions for things to do beside the school activities.
The school has an amazing program with activities each week (free or for a reasonable extra cost). These include walking tours of different areas of the city, museum / churches / monuments visits, cooking and drawing classes, guided tours to wineries in the famous Chianti area and more.
And at the weekend, we organize a trip to a nearby site to discover the Tuscan landscape, medieval villages and important sites like Siena, Lucca, San Gimignano. These are usually day trips and have an extra cost.
Upon student request, we can provide assistance in the search of the accommodation for the duration of the course.
Our school offers a variety of housing options to fit your needs. For a more immersive experience, host families are ideal, while a shared apartment or a residence are better for more independence.
Accommodation is from the Sunday prior to the course start date until the Saturday after the end of the course (you can book extra-nights).
Living with a host family is the best way to learn Italian and we recommend it to all of our students. Students will have a private bathroom and share common spaces with their family. Breakfast and dinner are included and meals are the perfect time to chat and practice Spanish. Homes are located at a maximum of 35 minutes from the school and all have been visited and approved by school staff. Two students traveling together can choose a double room.
The options are:
Room and breakfast: includes room and breakfast prepared by the family. It does not include the use of kitchen by the student
Half board: includes room, breakfast and dinner.
Room with kitchen use: Includes the room and the use the kitchen to prepare meals in accordance with the schedules and rules of the host family
This is a great option for students from 18 to 30 years old. Students traveling together can book a double room.
If you want to rent a room in an apartment with other foreign or Italian students, choose the option shared apartment. The kitchen is shared with other students. Rooms can be single or double. Apartments are up to 20 minutes from the school but most are within walking distance.
Private apartments can be studio apartments, a two-room apartments or larger apartments. Prices vary depending on the area and the required period. If you are searching for a maximum of independence, this solution is the most convenient for you.
