Learn Spanish in one of the most exciting cities in Spain – Barcelona! The city is famous for its local culture, amazing food and drink, cultural attractions, and nightlife and attracts visitors from all around the world.
With thousands of years of history, the city is filled with interesting sites and stories to tell. Sagrada Familia, La Rambla, Barceloneta Beach, Park Güell, and the Gothic Quarter are just a few of the must-sees of the city.
Located on the beach, the city then spreads out towards the mountains and it is quite easily explored with accessible public transportation, amazing architecture, and many cultural centers and museums.
Other nearby sites to visit include Tarragona, Sitges, Girona, and the island of Mallorca. All are great weekend days or overnight trips.
Our partner school in Barcelona is an award-winning institution, a member of IALC (International Association of Language Centers), and accredited by the Instituto Cervantes.
No matter their Spanish level, students can begin a program any Monday of the year. They can study from 1 week to 1 year and take a variety of course types. Some of the most popular is the 20 and 30-hour intensive courses to increase Spanish knowledge as fast as possible.
Lessons can be held in the mornings or the afternoons, depending on the student’s level and the time of year. You can request a specific schedule and the school will do its best to accommodate.
Classes are taught 100% in Spanish and the teachers use the communicative method, meaning you learn grammar and rules by speaking and practicing rather than direct memorization.
The school also offers private lessons, specialized classes like business Spanish and medical Spanish, and test preparation lessons. Those who will be working or have other commitments during the day can also take part-time night classes at the school. Just get in touch for more details about alternative course options.
Every week there are 4 free activities for students to join that include tours, site visits, academic workshops, and more. They are designed to practice Spanish outside the classroom, learn more about Spanish culture and socialize with other students.
The first day at our Spanish school in Barcelona:
On your first day, you should arrive at 8 am to sit for the Spanish level test. This is to place you in the group of the correct level. Students can also take this online before arrival and the school will send instructions to do so.
There is then a new student orientation at 9 am and students will enter class with everyone else at 9:30 am.
The school is near many amazing restaurants for lunch post-class and many sites to explore with your newly acquainted classmates. We provide lots of suggestions for things to do besides the free school activities.
From beginners to advanced level.
Monday to Friday, 9:30 am to 1:30 p.m. (including a 30-minute break).
This Spanish course offers general written and spoken Spanish in a relaxed atmosphere.
In our Group Course of 20 lessons, students will develop language skills in an interactive group. The small classes allow for personalized attention from the professor in a comfortable environment while students are completely immersed in the Spanish language.
This very popular Spanish course allows students to learn Spanish in the morning, and get to know other students whilst keeping weekends and afternoons free to explore Barcelona.
The Group Course of 30 Spanish lessons is our most intensive group course, perfect for students who want to have extra time in a group setting to practice their language skills. Students will participate in the same groups as the 20 lessons option but have an additional 2 hours of class each day for extra class time, from 2:30 to 4:20 pm.
THE BENEFIT OF ADDITIONAL GROUP LESSONS
Students will have an additional 2 hours of group lessons each day in order to review and practice their communication skills. Rather than learning new grammar and advancing faster through our level system, this course is designed to provide students with extra time with a professor in a classroom environment. More class time means that fluidity and use of language are increased, allowing students to feel more confident while using Spanish.
Students looking to learn Spanish with some additional personalized assistance should consider one of our Combined: Group + Private courses. Students will spend 4 lessons in a group class with other students of the same level from 9:30am to 1:30 pm and then have 1 to 2 private lessons per day to get extra assistance and focus on their needs, from 2:30 to 3:20 or 4:30 pm.
PRIVATE LESSONS FOCUS
Students can focus their private lessons:
● Review content from group lessons.
● Focus on specific language skills like oral comprehension, writing, or exams.
● Learn new content outside the group class.
The school has an amazing activities program with 4 free activities each week. These include walking tours of different areas of the city, museum visits, cooking classes, bar nights, dance classes, and more.
The school also has paid activities like additional flamenco or cooking classes and specialized tours and trips.
And once per month, we organize a weekend trip to a nearby site. These are usually a day or overnight trips and have an extra cost.
The school offers a variety of housing options to fit your needs. For a more immersive experience, host families are ideal, while a shared apartment or a residence is better for more independence.
Accommodation is from the Sunday prior to the course start date until the Saturday after the end of the course (you can book extra nights).
Living with a host family is the best way to learn Spanish and we recommend it to all of our students. Students will have a private bathroom and share common spaces with their family.
Breakfast and dinner are included and meals are the perfect time to chat and practice Spanish.
Homes are located at a maximum of 35 minutes from the school and all have been visited and approved by school staff. Two students traveling together can choose a double room.
Students aged 16/17 must book host family accommodation.
Live with other international students in a shared apartment. You will have a private bedroom and share common spaces, including a bathroom and kitchen.
Apartments are up to 35 minutes from the school but most are within walking distance. This is a great option for students from 18 to 30 years old. Students traveling together can book a double room.
Every Monday (accommodation from Sunday to Saturday) all year-round
Complete beginners can begin any Monday as well.
