What to Pack for your Language Camp

You are about to go on a language study trip and the time has come to pack your suitcases. And you want to make sure you don’t forget anything to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Preparation will reduce any stress you may be experiencing. What to pack for your language camp? Here are some tips so you don’t forget anything!

Make a list

A list helps you to make sure you don’t forget anything while minimizing unnecessary stuff you won’t need on-site. It helps you to be more realistic especially for long stays by considering the baggage limits imposed by airlines.

What type of clothes to take on a language study trip?

Pack clothes that do not have to be washed in a special way or clothes that will not wrinkle or stain. It is better to leave your favorite clothes at home. Usually, host families wash your clothes once a week. Remember to take warm clothes despite the good weather forecast.

The best tip: roll your clothes so they will take up less space in your suitcase and wrinkle less. Take a maximum of three pairs of shoes, as they take up a lot of space.
The ideal list should include decent casual outfits with 1 or 2 jeans, summer shorts, t-shirts, and a couple of dressy outfits for going out.
Bring about enough underwear, socks, and pyjamas to last ten days.
Our advisers will tell you if towels are provided. In this case, microfiber towels are preferable to classic towels because they dry faster and take up less space.

Clothing specific equipment

You must also think of 3 types of specific equipment:
. Rain gear: a light raincoat, warm sweaters or sweatshirts,
. Sun protection: glasses, cap and cream,
. Equipment for walking and practicing sports: shoes are very important because you will walk a lot (visits, etc.) and practice sports especially for the junior programs. Also, you might need clothes to go to the pool/beach.

The essentials

It is important that you are equipped so as not to have unpleasant surprises. Find out beforehand if a universal adapter is required.
Carry a toiletry bag as well as essential or prescription drugs with you.
Don’t forget to take a notebook and some pens for your language lessons. If you are bringing gifts for your host family, pack them carefully. Place chargers and other adapters in your shoes to save space.

Mandatory documents

. a complete guide to the destination,
. advice
. the list of official documents to provide

-And the last tip: always keep space in your suitcase for the purchases you will make during your stay!
